If you cough when you are cold, for example, if you eat something cold today, or are blown by cold wind, or eat more vegetables, you will cough before going to bed at night. In fact, this is all due to the cold, which is caused by a cold constitution (the body is cold). Because the body is cold, eating cold food makes the condition worse. This is called “getting worse when cold occurs.”
What is wheezing? Modern medicine calls it tracheitis. When you cough, you feel that you are in a hurry to breathe, and you or people around you can hear the “whooshing” sound. If you cough with wheezing after catching a cold, we call it lung qi stagnation. You should use methods to dispel wind and cold, promote lung qi and stop cough, such as using Fenghan Keke Granules, Tongxuan Lifei Granules (芄)
If it is not caused by a cold, but by exposure to cold or eating something cold, then you cannot use the method of dispersing wind and cold. You should warm the middle jiao and replenish kidney yang. Chinese medicine calls this the kidney not receiving qi, which causes qi to always come up. Why does qi always come up? It is because the kidney yang is insufficient and unable to store it.
So you need to use medicine to nourish kidney yang, such as aconite, eucommia, fennel, Morinda officinalis, cinnamon, and of course you can add some evodia rutaecarpa, this medicine to dispel liver cold, you can use psoralea corylifolia, add schisandra chinensis, dragon bone and oyster to restrain kidney qi, and of course you can also add cornus fruit to restrain liver qi, so that the liver and kidney will be warm.
It is not enough to warm the liver and kidneys without heating the middle burner, so add Lizhong Decoction, which includes red ginseng (stewed), white atractylodes, dried ginger, roasted licorice, and poria. For those with severe qi deficiency, add astragalus. This is basically the prescription for taking. It is not for suppressing cough, but for replenishing yang, dispersing cold, and restraining qi. Take it slowly, once every few days. When your hands and feet are warm, your digestion is faster, and you feel energetic, the cold cough will naturally go away.
Some people may have a worsening cough after taking it, but there is no need to worry. At most, they will cough for one night, or they will still cough the next day, but they will be fine on the third day. This is because when Yang Qi moves, Yin Qi comes out. Only when Yang Qi enters and Yin Qi comes out, can the body recover warmth (warm). Otherwise, if Yin Qi keeps occupying the position, sooner or later someone will be defeated by it (Yin Qi), and then we will lose, that is, we will die. Therefore, death is called returning to Yin.
Do you think my prescription is a bit like the prescription for cold rhinitis? Yes, if you remove the fangfeng from the prescription for cold rhinitis, and add evodia rutaecarpa, fennel and cinnamon, it will be the same. In other words, add warming yang medicine. For example, if you feel hot, you can remove the cinnamon, so that you won’t get angry easily. If you have toothache or swollen gums after eating, add a small amount of anemarrhena, or remove the astragalus.
Everything revolves around the liver, spleen and kidneys. Everything is mainly about warming the yang and dispersing the cold. When the yang is strong, the yin will be weak, and people will have fewer illnesses. On the contrary, when the yin is strong, the yang will be weak, and people will feel uncomfortable all over the body. So the only people who can understand this are my die-hard fans. Only those who understand that the yang is the main thing can understand the meaning of my prescription.
People nowadays do not know that coldness is a disease, and do not know that expelling coldness is urgent. Naturally, they do not understand the meaning of the formula of Sini Decoction. It seems that expelling coldness is urgent, but they do not know that they should save Yang Qi first. One day, they looked up at the sky and saw the beautiful scenery of the mountains. Only then did they realize that it was given by the sun. One day, there was no sun (a cold winter), and the mountains were bare everywhere. Only then did they realize that the growth of all things depends on the sun.
